when the bad dudes win…

Ocean’s 11 ocean.jpgwas on T.V. last night & my little Max was perturbed that I was hoping the “bad dudes” got away.  It’s a bit hard to explain to a little person, isn’t it, that the characterizations are created in such a way that the audience hopes they totally rob the Bellagio blind and then live happily ever after on their stolen cash.  I felt much the same with Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs.  How brilliant are those writers (and producers and casting people and publicists etc.) to take a character who is BAD or who does BAD STUFF and make people like me want them to get away?  And should it be so?  Do we honor character and charm over actions?  Is this like in real life, too?

Anyhow, stolen whatever, Clooney and Pitt could crash ANYTIME at my place and I’d happily black out my windows, watch them count the contraband, and make them the best latte ever.  Hannibal I probably wouldn’t invite inside… but I’d sure cheer him on if that jerk FBI guy was running down the road after him.

typewriter6.jpgJuicy Writer Site of the day… Once again, The Knight Agency had some great scoop in their Q&A Thursday.  It’s on their blog.  Nephele Tempest (fab name!) is the agent who did the answering.  Take a peek.
