In the Webster’s Dictionary (online edition) the word “Juicy” comes up with a definition of: rich in interest, succulent, colorful. Really, don’t you think those are great adjectives? (Hmmm… For people who don’t read the thesaurus for fun - like NORMAL people, maybe they’re not so great). And last year when my son’s grade 3 teacher told me that he had a book of “juicy” words for him to use in his writing, I was thinking that it’s a word that should be given more credit.
And so… this blog will have a mulititude of ridiculously nonsensical and extremely JUICY stuff. You’ll read about JUICY thoughts, JUICY people, JUICY incidents, hear my JUICY questions, etc. I doubt any of them will be world changing. But it’s all the little stuff that weaves together - all the small things make up the fabric of our lives.
Juicy Fact:
Last night I saw an ad for Vonage. It wasn’t the one making fun of the stupid blonde who was about to be eaten by a shark - I was getting sick of that one. It was very visually appealing. But they were using a monochromatic background and just highlighting/coloring certain things ORANGE. It got me thinking about the ING ad - how they marketed that smart looking guy with the cool accent (the “Save Your Money” guy) - and how THEIR color was orange. I went back to some of my notes on color psychology to check why the hell these people were all so obsessed with orange. Turns out that orange is a sort of universal equalizer. It makes people comfortable and relaxed and not intimidated. One time I painted my whole kitchen orange. It was right after I was finished University, didn’t have a job, and was finding wonderful projects for myself in my new house. Eran didn’t find the orange very comfortable. But maybe it was equalizing… It was that day that he strongly encouraged me get a job…
I read this a few days ago and the whole ‘orange’ and ‘juicy’ talk had me thinking about some song lyrics. (I apologize to any Beattles fans, if I get this wrong). Remember Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds? The lyric that goes something like “tangerine trees and marmalade skies”.
I wondered if a trip on LSD creates such mind relaxing and comfortable thoughts? Just food for thought………….
