Have you checked out the sunken living-room igloos @ Club Penguin? ![]()
Are you addicted to Goober’s Lab @ Webkinz? ![]()
And what about Gaia Online?
Great virtual world…
I love my REAL world. I’ve got a fab family, a great job, I am pursuing my writing dream etc. Absolutely ZERO complaints. But the virtual worlds I visit are akin to escaping into a great book or the small-screen worlds of House or CSI. And there are some Juicy Bonuses to visiting a virtual world:
I’ve never run into any line-ups. When I want new bling for my Avatar “RuleYourWorld” on Gaia, I just click on the shop and I instantly own whatever I desire (provided, of course, I have played enough of the slot machine game to earn the $$ I need).
Friends are plentiful. Not deep, meaningful friendships, you understand, but fast “hi!… love your outfit” ‘friends’. And unlike the real world, in a virtual reality, if someone makes you mad, you can hit “Delete”.
When you’re “talking”, you can use computer slang. I find that totally fascinating. “De for The. U for You. R for Are. BFF for Best Friends Forever. TTFN for See you later - hope you have a good day…”
You can do stuff you just don’t have time for in a regular life. Mining for jewels, Treasure hunts, Finding Magic Fairies… You know, all the stuff we’d LOVE to do, but the laundry often gets in the way.
If you haven’t had a chance, go check out www.rywnow.com. Kelly Talbot & I have written a proposal for very cool non-fiction for teens. Our agent is working with it right now & we’ve written some VERY FUN blogs! Even a quiz and a mini-bagua map!
i admit, i am totally addicted to goobers lab… as soon as the kids are in bed some strange magnetic force draws me to webkins world where i earn loads of kinzcash and never spend it because shopping takes time away from the addiction of the games….

Well don’t you fret. Goober’s Lab, I’m sure, keeps your brain fresh. When you’re really old, you’ll be sharp as nails. (That’s my fave there, too). And you can thank Webkinz! As for the intervention… tell him to save it. MY husband can use the resources for the pumpkin spice latte intervention he’s planning…
