Max holding a butterfly @ the Ex in Edmonton, AB
A weekend full of insane fun & not enough sleep… Friday verrrry early we drove for five hours to get to an appointment in Edmonton. Then went directly to the Exhibition (a gigantic fair - full of rides, candy, a lovely butterfly room, and Gatorades costing $4.50 each). We stayed for five hours in the scorching heat (add up the $$ on liquids and you might have a coronary like I almost did) and then walked over to an amazing show called”Walking With the Dinosaurs”. It’s associated with BBC and I believe they only have two venues in Canada before moving to the U.S. Absolutely spectacular. We then drove to my cousin Kim’s place where we stayed two nights.
I really hope all of you have people in your life that you can totally be yourself with. Kimma is one of those people for me. Since I’ve had memories in my head, there’s been Kim. We lived approximately 12 hours from one another when we were growing up but I think we spent every summer & every major holiday together. Kudos to our mothers for keeping us glued. This weekend was a time-warp - as are all the times we get to have together. We ate smores, lolligagged, listened to the many “band performances” the kids choreographed, tried not to absolutely lose our minds with hysterical laughter when we discovered Max & Tanner (both are 5) had decorated their ENTIRE bodies with multi-colored felt markers, discussed the lasting trauma of ’80’s hair, and just watched all of the munchkins (five in total) frolic around like we used to when we were so young. We even discovered that both of us are addicted to playing our children’s Webkinz (I know there are more sick adult Webkins addicts around - you can admit it…).
And when we hugged them goodbye, my kids had more than the fun memories of staying up too late and playing in the sprinkler together. They came home with FOUR FREAKING FROGS. Oh yes. Live ones. I’ll let ‘ya know how THAT works for me…. (especially since we have to feed them live crickets)…
Sam & one of the four new frogs. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.
OOOOH Deana!
July 30th, 2007 at 5:58 pmOh yah. And you SOOO don’t want to know about the 95% of the crickets THAT ESCAPED this morning and caused me to scream hysterically throughout the day. DON’T come for coffee (unless you’re into freaky creatures hopping out of your coffee cup at your face when you least expect it)… There will be SO MUCH bleach happening. When Eran gets home.

You’re right. But now I’m going to win the insomniac of the year. Heebee-Jeebees.
