(Ever get a good word going and repeat it far too much in a week’s span? The past month I’m into “scandalous” - because there are so many juicy scandals in the YA novel I’ve been working on - and also the word “pimpish” - which is just terribly fun to say… I got this from a posting on Josh Shipp’s facebook. If you’re a teen, have teens, work with teens, or have ever been a teen, you’ll want to check him out.)
I must have been saying “scandalous” far too much lately. My little Kindergarten Max-child informed me the other day of some “scandals” going on at school. When he said the word “scandal” I happened to be driving on a winding road and I almost hit the ditch (laughter suppressing reaction)… When I found my straight face and asked him to dish, he told me about all the girls and who they’d chosen for their boyfriends… and then who changed her mind… It was hilariously divine. Do you remember what those sorts of “scandals” felt like when we were too young to spell the word?
(All around, it’s quite wonderful how little people remind you of how great life is…)
Yesterday I got a chance to go downtown and popped into a cafe for a sandwich. Lo and behold I entered the building and THREE people I knew (amazing kindergarten moms) were there. I can’t tell you how much this newly transplanted girl appreciated walking somewhere and unexpectedly seeing friendly faces I recognized. It’s one of life’s little pleasures I’ve missed…
Anyhow, if you’ve got any SCANDALS to talk about - good, juicy, scandalous tidbits (from primary school, or not), please dish…
Scandals eh… Well Lars was hurt on the plaground today trying to get away from girls who wanted to kiss him!
