Unfortunate Event #1: Mascara wands in the eye are definitely unfortunate events. More unfortunate is the reality that it is almost replacement time for said mascara. Thus, when mascara wand jabs into the eyeball, it is not only relaying pain to my head. It is also relaying thousands of microbes of the sickest mascara germinology. (I should be deemed not legally blind in a matter of a few days. That is, if my body’s immune system is strong enough to fight off the cesspool of mascara wand germs.) ![]()
Unfortunate Event #2: Marshmallow burns really, really qualify as unfortunate events. I know this not from reading about it. Oh no… I know this because TERI somehow convinced me that creating Rice Krispie squares was simple. Yah. Whatever. She DIDN’T mention that marshmallows hold their heat & that when you start stirring in the RK’s, you just have to tough through it WITHOUT sticking your hand in the middle of it, which, of course, would result in burning-lava-hot-sticky marshmallow ADHERING to your hand (whilst still burning-lava-hot)…
Adding insult to injury, my older offspring asked me if the next time I tried to make RK squares if I could “please try to make them so they’re not quite as hard as rocks”… (sigh)![]()
#3 UN-Unfortunate Event:
Surprisingly, a horse manicure, which SOUNDS like an unfortunate event, is not. I recently had the pleasure of meeting a giant horse called D’Artagnan. Originally, I was interested in seeing horse teeth.
(Just curious. I’ve never seen horse teeth.) But the manicure thing was even better… A ferrier named Dave came and used these GIANT tools. Sadly, the horse didn’t get the new shade of MAC glitter polish… with nails like that, it would have cost a fortune. But it was fascinating. While I’m not a horse person, I did enjoy it muchly and plan to visit it again. I’d bet huge coin that D’Artagnan would LOVE my RK Squares.
My son had his first swim meet this weekend. He’s very competitive. He kicked butt. And had a fantastic time… It is one of the most amazingly exhilarating things when your own offspring possesses something you have nothing of and admire so very much… (I told him he went so fast because of the RK squares…)

Congratulate him from us! That’s awesome. Tell him he’ll go even faster next time when you make him chocolate chip cookies!
